Shanika Vidana Gamage

PhD Candidate 2024

Shanika Vidana Gamage is a PhD student at the University of South Australia whose research focuses on developing a strategic framework to facilitate early intervention to mitigate and prevent suicidal distress and suicide among female construction workers. Her work addresses a critical gap in suicide prevention research by examining the unique drivers of suicidal risk faced by women in the male-dominated construction industry, drawing on lived experiences. By recommending early intervention strategies, she aims to provide practical solutions that foster more inclusive, supportive, and safer workplaces for female construction workers.
